Founded in the Spring of 2011 by a small group of ballet-loving undergraduates, the Yale Undergraduate Ballet Company is Yale University’s sole dance group devoted to the art of ballet.
YBC was developed into an organization by Amymarie Bartholomew during the 2011-2012 academic year and has been growing ever since. The Company provides its members with opportunities to improve their technique during their time at Yale as well as to perform both classical and contemporary ballet in several annual shows. It also aims to expose the Yale community to the combined athletic and artistic nature of ballet as a mode of expression and storytelling.
“People are quick to dismiss ballet as outdated or limited. I think this company shows how misguided that is.” -Ashna Gupta, Social Chair, SM ’20
